Recently, I attended the World Without Disease Pitch Contest in Tokyo and met with Astronaut Dr. Chiaki Mukai. Human space exploration has always fascinated me and I was so glad to have the opportunity to speak with her about her latest research and past experiences.

After better understanding Zia Mody’s background and career path (full of a whole lot of pure determination and hard work!), I was even more inspired by how she has managed to achieve so much (well-deserved) success. She is a true role model not only for women in India, but for anyone who aims to achieve the best in their field internationally.

The Nakasendo or ‘Road through the Central Mountains’ was part of feudal Japan’s network of highways connecting Kyoto and Edo (modern-day Tokyo) over an inland route that passed 500 kilometers (310 miles) through the heart of Japan’s main island of Honshu.
In the past, travelers took several days (if not weeks) to travel the Nakasendo moving from Kyoto to Edo, staying overnight in Juku post towns. Today’s visitors have a wide choice of various walking tours where they can walk, hike, or even run across sections of the original route by day and stay in local inns by night.
中山道（なかせんどう）は、江戸時代の五街道の一つで、江戸の日本橋と京都の三条大橋を内陸経由で結ぶ街道である。
その昔、旅人は京都から江戸まで中山道に点在する宿場町に泊まりながら、数週間かけて旅しました。
今日、この中山道を体験する為に、我々にはウォーキングツアーなどの様々な選択肢があります。
