Rachel visited Miyake Town in Nara Prefecture and met with Mayor Koji Morita at the town hall.
During the meeting, they exchanged ideas on the effective utilization of vacant houses and the promotion of international cultural exchange to support regional revitalization and town development.
レイチェルは、奈良県三宅町を訪問し、町役場にて森田浩司町長と面会しました。
今回の会談では、地域活性化及びまちづくりを目的とした「空き家の有効活用と国際的な文化交流」について意見を交わしました。
In particular, they discussed the possibility of converting Miyake Town’s traditional old houses into tourist accommodations, with the aim of promoting inbound tourism and invigorating the local economy. This initiative aims to leverage Miyake Town’s historical architecture and local resources to boost inbound tourism and stimulate economic growth.

また、三宅町に滞在する国際的な若手アーティストとの交流プログラムの可能性についても話し合いました。この構想は、レイチェルのグローバル市場での専門知識を活かし、三宅町の芸術・文化振興を支援し、より国際的で活気ある町づくりに貢献することを目的としています。
Moving forward, Rachel will continue collaborating with the local government and residents to promote the utilization of vacant houses and foster international cultural exchange, working together to enhance tourism and support sustainable town development in Miyake Town.

About Miyake Town
Miyake Town is located in Shiki-gun, Nara Prefecture. It is the smallest town in the prefecture and the second smallest in all of Japan. Surrounded by the picturesque mountain ranges of Mount Kongō and Mount Katsuragi, it lies in the fertile basins of the Asuka, Soga, and Tera Rivers, an area blessed with rich natural beauty.
The town also has a long history, with references in the ancient anthology Man’yōshū under the names “Miyake no Hara” and “Miyake no Michi,” indicating that its name has been known since ancient times.
三宅町（みやけちょう）について
奈良県磯城郡にある町で、県内で最も面積が小さく、全国でも2番目に小さな町です。町の周辺には霊峰・金剛山や葛城山の美しい山並みが広がり、飛鳥川・曽我川・寺川の肥沃な流域に位置する、豊かな自然に恵まれた地域です。
また、三宅町は歴史が深く、『万葉集』にも「三宅の原」「三宅道」と詠まれるなど、古くからその名が知られている町です。
About Mayor Koji Morita of Miyake Town, Nara Prefecture
Born in 1984 in Miyake Town, Shiki-gun, Nara Prefecture, Mayor Koji Morita graduated from the Faculty of Comprehensive Management (Department of Business Administration) at Osaka University of Commerce in 2007. After gaining diverse work experience in construction, as a co-op employee, as a secretary to a member of the National Diet, and as a member of the Miyake Town Council, he was elected mayor in 2016 at the young age of 32. He was reelected in 2020 and has continued to serve in this role ever since.

1984年奈良県磯城郡三宅町生まれ。2007年に大阪商業大学 総合経営学部 経営学科を卒業。建設現場での仕事や、生協職員、国会議員秘書、三宅町議会議員など多様な職種を経験したのち、2016年に32歳の若さで三宅町長選挙に当選。2020年に再選し、現在に至る。
