Rachel Leng recently attended a fireside chat with Khun Kirit Shah, Chairman of GP Group, hosted by the Harvard Club of Thailand in Bangkok.
リン・レイチェル は、タイ・バンコクで開催されたハーバード・クラブ・オブ・タイランド主催のファイヤーサイドチャットに参加し、GPグループ会長 キリット・シャー氏との対話に出席しました。
Mr. Shah, who has led GP Group for over five decades, shared insights into his entrepreneurial journey—from expanding his family’s grain trading business into a global conglomerate spanning shipping, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, aviation, and technology, to establishing GP Group as one of Thailand’s most respected business groups.
シャー氏は、50年以上にわたりGPグループを率い、家業の穀物取引事業を出発点に、海運・製薬・ホスピタリティ・航空・テクノロジーなど幅広い分野へと事業を拡大し、同グループをタイ有数のコングロマリットへと発展させてきました。
In his remarks, Mr. Shah emphasized that entrepreneurship is not about pursuing every opportunity, but rather about identifying the right ones and acting with conviction, even before the path is fully clear. He also highlighted the importance of legacy and values such as trust, resilience, and long-term stewardship, noting that growth should never come at the cost of continuity and purpose.
講演の中でシャー氏は、起業とはあらゆる機会を追うのではなく、「正しい機会を見極め、道が完全に見えていなくても信念を持って行動すること」 が重要であると強調。また、世代を超えて受け継がれる 信頼・レジリエンス・長期的視点 といった価値観の重要性に触れ、成長は決して継続性や目的を犠牲にしてはならないと述べました。
The session provided participants with valuable perspectives on balancing careful analysis with decisive action, and on sustaining business growth while preserving values and legacy for the future.
今回のイベントは、参加者にとって「分析と果断な行動のバランス」や「価値観とレガシーを重視した経営」のあり方を学ぶ貴重な機会となりました。
