When I think back to my first travels around Japan, I honestly had no idea just how much those
experiences would change the course of my life.

最初に日本を旅したとき、まさかあの体験が、ここまで自分の人生を変えることになるなん
て、その時は本当に想像もしていませんでした。

I wasn’t fluent in Japanese, didn’t have a clear plan, and definitely didn’t imagine I’d end up building a
media and business company here. But what I did have was a sense of wonder.

日本語もほとんど話せず、明確なキャリアプランもなくて、まさか自分が日本でメディアとビ
ジネスの会社を立ち上げることになるとは思ってもいませんでした。でも、当時の私には、強
い「好奇心」と「ワクワクする気持ち」がありました。

The Allure of Japan Discovered in the Countryside

地方で出会った日本の魅力

As I visited small towns, met locals, and learned about the stories behind traditions, crafts, and places—some of which even Japanese people don’t always know about—I found myself falling in love with a side of Japan that felt incredibly deep and meaningful.

地方の小さな町を巡って、そこで暮らす人たちと出会い、伝統文化や工芸、土地にまつわるさまざまなお話を聞く中で、時には、日本の方でもあまり知らないようなことにも触れることがありました。そんな知られざる日本の奥深さや、そこに込められた意味や想いに、私はどんどん心を惹かれていきました。

That’s what inspired me to co-found SeiRogai together with Samuel: to create a platform that could capture and share these stories with the world, using technology like virtual reality and documentary-style content to bring people closer to Japan in ways that feel personal and real.

この体験が、SeiRogaiを共同創業するきっかけとなりました。バーチャルリアリティやドキュメンタリースタイルの映像など、テクノロジーを活用して、日本の魅力をもっと「リアルに」「心に届く形で」世界中の人々に伝えたいという思いから始まったのです。

This journey has been filled with both challenges and unforgettable moments. I recently had the honor of being interviewed by Keizaikai Magazine for their “San-San Talk” series. For those unfamiliar, Keizaikai is one of Japan’s respected business publications, established in 1964. It’s known for its in-depth interviews with business leaders and its focus on the people behind the companies, rather than just the numbers. Being featured in such a publication was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our journey and share the mission behind SeiRogai.

先日、『経済界』の「San-San Talk」シリーズで私たちの取り組みについて取り上げていただきました。『経済界』は1964年創刊の歴史あるビジネス誌で、企業の業績だけでなく、その背後にいる「人」にフォーカスした深いインタビューで知られています。そんな由緒あるメディアに掲載されたことは、これまでの歩みを振り返り、SeiRogaiの想いを語る貴重な機会となりました。

In this interview, I was joined by Keizaikai President and CEO Ms. Yumi Sato as the interviewer. We
discussed the founding story of SeiRogai, my passion for Japanese culture, and our efforts to support
regional revitalization and traditional craftsmanship.

今回の対談では、『経済界』代表取締役社長・佐藤有美氏を聞き手に迎え、SeiRogaiの創業スト
ーリーをはじめ、日本文化への想い、そして地方創生や伝統工芸支援への取り組みについて語
りました。

This quote from the article captures a big part of why I do what I do. In the interview, I reflected on the
journey of co-founding SeiRogai, my connection to Japanese culture, and our mission to share untold
stories from local communities through technology and storytelling.

この言葉は、インタビューでお話しした中でも、特に私の想いを表している一節です。SeiRogai
のこれまでの道のり、そしてなぜ日本文化や地方の物語に惹かれているのか…そんな想いを語る
